While watching the informational video on the new yahoo homepage I just had to laugh. What does a video with a bunch of stereotypical computer engineer nerds do for yahoo’s image? Yes there’s technical aspects to yahoo, however users don’t want to associate themselves with a bunch of nerds. All I could think about while watching this video was how hard they were trying to look cool. (yeah, they get to play with nerf guns in the office! They’re so dot com cool). Truth is I wouldn’t care to have a beer with anyone in that video, let alone have an office nerf war….or ever use their search.
Their video ending tag line shouldn’t be: “Engineered for people like you” but instead “Engineered for people like you, by people NOT like you”
